Much has been researched and speculated about Mileva’s potential role in Einstein’s scientific work. A plethora of documents exist that can help us decipher whether she was a bona fide scientific partner in what is known today as solely his work, or a knowledgeable observer that preferred to stay on the sidelines and let Einstein work alone. Oddly enough, academic works have been published purporting to prove either one or the other hypothesis, creating a sense of uncertainly in the lay public. This book looks at the existing documentation, and previously published works, with a critical and objective eye to establish the definitive truth. I will not spoil the ending, as this is a book worth reading, but I will say that it is concise, highly intelligible and neatly divided into three sections: the first providing a brief biography of the Einstein- Marić couple, the second presenting a candid essay on the travails of women in science, and the third critically dissecting and cross-referencing the evidence on whether Mileva did or did not participate in Einstein’s discoveries.
